From Abu Ayyub ra:
“The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:’ Who is fasting Ramadhan and continue with six days in Shawwal, then that’s fast for a lifetime ‘. “[Muslim 1984, Ahmad 5 / 417, Abu Dawood 2433, At-Tirmidhi 1164]

Law of Shawwal fasting
The statute is sunna: “This is a saheeh hadeeth which indicates that fasting six days of  Shawwal is Sunnah. Ash-Shafi’i, Ahmad and many leading scholars followed. It is not correct to reject this hadith with the reasons put forward a few scholars in making fast This Makruh, such as fear of people who do not know consider this part of the Ramadan, or worried people will think it’s mandatory, or because he did not hear that, salaf scholars usual fasting in Ramadhan, because these are all estimates, which can not be used to reject the saheeh Sunnah. If something already known, then become evidence for those who do not know. ”

Mid-Sha’ban is the 15th day of the Muslim month of Sha’ban. Laylatul Bara’ah is the night preceding the 15th day of Shaban.

The month of Sha’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as Laylatul Bara’ah or Laylatun Nisfe min Sha’ban in the Arab world. In India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Afghanistan, etc., it is known as Shab-e-barat.
